Archiving and Long-Term Preservation Policy in Open Access

Open Access Policy

The editorial policy of the scientific journal "Control, Navigation and Communication Systems" is based on the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).

By "open access", we mean free and unimpeded user access to the full texts of articles on the Internet. This allows users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, and search the journal's materials without financial, legal, or technical barriers.

The journal provides immediate open access to all published materials. This promotes the global exchange of knowledge and increases the citation rate of authors. All materials are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license (CC BY-NC 4.0).

Archiving and Long-Term Preservation Policy

The journal implements a comprehensive strategy to ensure the continuous availability and integrity of digital content, which includes the use of multiple levels of redundancy and storage:

1. Technical means and guarantees at the publisher level

  • OJS Platform: The journal operates on the basis of the Open Journal Systems, which has built-in tools for preserving metadata and content.

  • Backup: The editorial board performs regular full backups of the database and file storage to prevent data loss in the event of technical failures.

  • Digital Object Identifiers (DOI): Each published article is assigned a unique DOI through the Crossref agency. This ensures a permanent and stable link to the material, even if the website's URL changes.

Repositories and storage networks

To guarantee long-term access, metadata and full texts of articles are stored in external independent repositories:

  • Institutional repository: All issues of the journal are transferred to the Institutional Repository of the National University Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic for permanent storage.

  • National collection: Mandatory copies of electronic editions are transferred for storage to the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine.
