Abstract

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the regional prerequisites for the development of renewable energy sources in Ukraine, taking into account natural and territorial characteristics, the condition of energy infrastructure, and existing security constraints. The study also substantiates a conceptual model for the formation of a resilient energy system based on the integration of renewable energy generation. The specific natural and territorial characteristics of the regions of Ukraine are examined in terms of their influence on the potential for enhancing the resilience of energy systems and the further placement of renewable energy facilities. Regional clusters are formed according to criteria related to the availability of land resources, orographic characteristics, and limitations associated with the condition and scale of damage to energy infrastructure. An analysis of the state of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in a regional context is carried out, taking into account the level of damage to generation capacities and network elements of the energy system. This makes it possible to determine the level of functional resilience of the energy system under current security challenges and to substantiate the feasibility of developing alternative approaches to the organization of energy systems, particularly the implementation of decentralized generation based on renewable energy sources. A generalized assessment of the natural resource potential for the development of major types of renewable energy (solar, wind, and bioenergy) across different regional clusters of Ukraine is conducted, and the feasibility of implementing promising renewable energy technologies is substantiated. It is demonstrated that the development of distributed generation, the implementation of microgrids, and the use of energy storage systems are becoming key elements in ensuring the stability of the energy system’s functioning. Based on the proposed approach to determining the prospects for the formation of a resilient energy system in Ukraine through the development of renewable energy sources, which involves integrating the results of analyses of regional natural resource potential, the condition of energy infrastructure, and existing security constraints, a comprehensive approach to the transformation of Ukraine’s energy system is developed. The clustering of Ukraine’s territories according to a combination of natural, infrastructural, and security factors makes it possible to identify priorities for the future planning of territorial models of renewable energy development.
