A conceptual model of youth information, economic and legal security under martial law

This article justifies the need for a comprehensive approach to ensuring the informational, economic and legal security of young people under martial law and during Ukraine’s postwar recovery. The aim of the study is to establish a conceptual and categorical framework and to develop a multilevel conceptual model for ensuring the security of young people, considering its impact on their migration intentions and scenarios. The methods of systems analysis, statistical generalization, the structural-functional approach, comparison and conceptual modeling were applied. Youth security is presented as an open, self-organized system operating under conditions of instability and turbulence. The interdependence of informational, economic and legal security has been substantiated. It’s proposed that these be viewed as interconnected components of a unified triad of youth security. It has been established that information literacy expands opportunities for the informed pursuit of educational, professional and legal opportunities; economic independence enhances a young person’s ability to make independent life choices; legal awareness creates the conditions for the realization and protection of their rights and legitimate interests. The integral outcome of the interaction between these components is defined as youth resilience. It characterizes young people’s ability to adapt to unstable conditions, maintain their agency, restore and develop their own resources and formulate life strategies in conditions of instability and turbulence. The content of the informational, economic and legal security of youth is defined and proposed to be considered as complementary components of a single security triad. It is argued that the integral result of their interaction is youth resilience. A five-level conceptual model has been developed that encompasses global influencing factors, institutional support, the youth security triad, behavioral responses in the form of migration intentions and scenarios, as well as strategic outcomes for youth and the state.
